RDG worked with the El Dorado Nature Center and the City of Long Beach to re-route and improve their trail system.  RDG developed strategies to protect the channel banks, including setting the trail back from the water and adding rock and wood to fortify the banks where direct access was encouraged.

RDG completed preliminary trail planning on the 1,300-acre Calabazas Creek Open Space Preserve in Sonoma County.  RDG scouted out and planned potential trail routes from the valley bottom to the ridge that protected sensitive resources and delivered a world-class hiking experience. 

El Cerrito’s northern entry was converted from the former BNSF rail line into an extension of the popular Ohlone Greenway.  Gathering spaces anchor the site and interpretive programming tells the story of this community revitalization project.

RDG lead the design, planning and construction contract administration of over three and a half miles of multi-use trails including portions of the Bay Area Ridge Trail.

RDG adjusted trail alignments to reduce or eliminate impacts to sensitive resources.  Where impacts were unavoidable, RDG designed boardwalks and bridges to protect the resource.

RDG identified suitable routes for ADA travel on Fernandez Ranch resulting in over half a mile of ADA accessible trails.

RDG designed a trail and outdoor learning center with access points for students to experience Arroyo Viejo Creek directly. 

RDG designed a series of boardwalks to help protect sensitive resources along the trail network of this open space preserve. 

The Codornices Creek Trail runs alongside each phase of the restoration of Lower Codornices Creek.  Eventually the trail will extend upstream to San Pablo Avenue to provide 2,000 feet of new mutli-use trail along the creek and separated from traffic.
